Principal

Prof Syeda Sameen Fatima has over 33 years of experience in teaching, research and administration in India, USA and UAE. She joined as a faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Osmania  University during its formative years in 1984.  From 1989 to 1994 she worked as a Data Base Administrator at Applied Econometrics, USA and at the Physical Plant at the University of Massachusetts, USA. From 2006 to 2009 she was a faculty at BITS, Pilani – Dubai campus.  She took over as Principal in July 2016, and holds the distinction of being the first lady Principal, in the history of the College of Engineering, Osmania University. Currently she is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and also the Director, Centre for Women’s Studies at Osmania University. Earlier she served as Dean, Faculty of Informatics and Head, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering. Prof Sameen also served as the Nodal Coordinator for imparting training on “Outcome Based Education (OBE)” on behalf of National Board of Accreditation and has conducted several training programs at different Universities in India.

Dr Sameen Fatima received her BTech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, MPhil degree from University of Hyderabad, MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, USA, and PhD from Osmania University in Computer Science and Engineering.

Professor Sameen Fatima has published several papers in national and international journals and conferences. Her areas of interest include Machine Learning, Text Mining and Information Retrieval Systems. She is a life member of the Computer Society of India. She received the “Best Teacher Award”  by The Government of Telangana, India in the year 2017.
