Achievements of the Department

 

    • DAIKIN (Centre of Excellency):   Daikin centre of excellence is an air-conditioning/HVAC lab established in the year 2017 in collaboration with Daikin Industries, India Ltd. The centre facilitates in enhancing the skills people to meet new challenges in the AC industry.  Daikin will share its resources with department which will help students for placement opportunities in Daikin or its channel partners offering them internship, live projects or fixed term employment contracts. This centre will also facilitate Faculty and Staff of the department to upgrade their skills in the area of refrigeration and air-conditioning and also to pursue their research in this area. 
    • Centre for Prototyping and Testing of Industrial Products (CPTIP): The state-of-the art ‘Center for Prototyping and Testing of Industrial Products (CPTIP)’ was established in the year 2009 at University College of Engineering, Osmania University with a fund of Rs. 150 Lakhs sanctioned by MHRD, Govt. of India. The Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) based Rapid Prototyping (RP) system with specialised software and hardware for advanced modeling and analysis was procured under this centre. This prototyping system is first of its kind in A.P. and first in India with regard to accuracy. The center is providing product development and prototyping facilities to B.E, M.E./M.Tech students and Ph.D scholars. Apart from above, the center is also actively involved in doing consultancy projects by providing prototyping facilities to prestigious defence labs such as DMRL, DRDL and industrial firms like GE, Mahindra Satyam, Satyam-Venture, Analogies Tech. India Ltd., C2P, Models India, Transcend etc. The centre is also actively involved in serving the society by helping doctors in making prototypes for pre-planning surgery of complex operations.
    • The Department organized several important events over the years, following are some of the major events:
      1. Placement Training Programme called Breeze 2019 during 7-8, April 2019
      2. One week GIAN course on Advances in Additive and Digital Manufacturing during 25th -29th March, 2019.
      3. Mecharena 2019, Student Level National Tech Fest during 4-5 March, 2018.
      4. National conference on advances in mechanical engineering and nano technology (AMENT-2018).
      5. 62nd congress of the Indian society of theoretical and applied mechanics during 15-18 December, 2017.
      6. Workshop on design & analysis of mechanical systems, on 31 August, 2017
      7. GIAN course on nonlinear dynamics of classical magnetic systems during 10 Nov to 9 Dec 2017.
      8. Maintenance and Repair of Mobile Phones during February 2015
      9. International conference on Advances in Materials & Manufacturing (ICAMM-2016) during 7-9 December, 2016.
    • Professor Sriram Venkatesh was awarded “Engineer of the Year Award” jointly awarded by the Government of Telangana and the Institution of Engineers (India), Telangana State Center in September, 2016 for his  contributions in the field of Engineering Education.
    • Two students are selected for externship program offered by M/s. Boeing, USA and have to work at M/s. Infotech, Hyderabad. The stipend is Rs. 20,000/ per month. This offer is in line with IIT Kharagpur students. The students selected for the academic year 2017-2018 are

    • The students of the Department participated and won prizes in major events like SAE SUPRA 2019, SAE AERO DESIGN 2019, Efficycle, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, BAJA-2016, GOKART-2016, Electric Solar Vehicle Competition, Efficycle-2016, GOKART 2014.
