The University College of Engineering (UCE) has the distinction of being the oldest and the largest among the Engineering Colleges of the state of Telangana. The College offers four year Engineering degree courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The College also offers courses leading to Master of Engineering (M.E.) and Ph.D. in the various branches of Engineering. Part-time courses are offered at post-graduate levels in various Departments.

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 1929 with an intake of 15 students. The Department moved into the present majestic building in the year 1947. The Department offers undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering, Master's and Doctoral programmes in Structural Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Hydromechanics and Water Management. The courses are offered on full-time as well as on part-time basis. The Department is recipient of grants from UGC, DST, AICTE and TS & AP State Governments. The Department offers Consultancy to several organizations such as SCR, SERC, HAL, APSEB, BHEL, Rail Tel, GHMC, HUDA, DERL, DMRL, ECIL, MES, NFC, BDL, APSPHCL, APSRTC, Midhani, Indian Railways and other construction companies/organizations.
